These drawings belong to a series of nude studies which aim to represent the female form in motion and in spontaneity. Inspired by the works of Egon Schiele (1890-1918), an Austrian expressionist painter, these studies seek to capture a sense of intensity in the human figure. Emphasizing the element of the line, the body is composed of two overlapping silhouettes; one is constructed out of semi-abstract cutout shapes and the other is drawn in a realistic style. The underlying expression of anxiety is revealed through the fragmentation of the body.
